Live Review of Nashville Pussy at The Ritz 3/28/17

Review and Photography by Tony Alves

The beast known as Nashville Pussy (I mean that as a compliment) in my opinion “DESTROYED” tonight at The Ritz in San Jose, Ca. The band are currently on a short US tour of western states co-headlining with Seattle legends Zeke. Warning. It’s gonna be loud.

Nashville Pussy took the stage to Van Halen’s, “Runnin’ With The Devil”. For those yet to experience NP live, I’ll try to explain. It’s non-stop, in your face rock n roll. There’s some Southern rock, mixed with a bit of AC/DC, psychobilly, hard rock and cow punk. Do I have your attention now?

Band members singer/guitarist Blaine Cartwright, lead guitarist Ruyter Suys, bassist Bonnie Buitrago, and drummer Ben Thomas attack their instruments without sounding like a bunch of noise. Riff after tasty riff with killer hooks. I mean it’s a crime this band isn’t on a headline arena tour of America selling out every show.

Finally, it’s like this. Me as a music fan, when your body feels like a Milky Way and chill bumps, (I’m talking about the solar system not a candy bar). Followed by a wave of endorphins. Not many bands make me feel like this. Nashville Pussy is one that does.
